The CR bitrate is not enough to properly record this anime. But luckily there are three different CR sources available for this anime, which makes this encode possible.
For the episode, we apply a vsdenoise.frequency_merge with a custom adder in the higher frequencies. For the OP, we Lehmer merge all the available episodes together.
During the merge for the episode, we apply a basic AA via vsaa.based_aa, and a weaker dehalo via vsdehalo.dehalo_alpha protected by a bilateral based protection on the lower frequencies itself to protect the noise from these operations.

After the merge, we apply a base deband via vsdeband.pfdeband using placebo_deband. This should be able to addresse the occasional strong banding in the source.

In the encoding, we apply a very strong layer of fine noise on top of the image. The main reason is that even after the merge, flashback scenes and alike still look terrible without a heavy layer of grain. We choose a very fine noise because we think it fits the general feeling of this anime.
We use the latest May 26 version of 5fish/SVT-AV1-PSY for this encode. We target a filesize around the same as source, which is about enough to deliver a rather high quality encode. We use --crf 19.60 --lineart-psy-bias 3 --texture-psy-bias 6 --psy-bias-optimize-b 1 for the encode. In some specific sections like the ED of episode 03, we manually zone the section and encode using different parameters to not go too overboard.
